Pros of the Electric Scooter

The biggest difference between an electric scooter and an electric skateboard is that an electric scooter has a handle bar and an electric skateboard does not.

If you took the handle bar off of any scooter, it would look a lot like a skateboard.

There are many good things about the handle bar:

Stability: When riding on only two feet, you have to find your balance. This is hard for people who are just starting out, but even if you are an experienced rider, all it takes is a sharp turn, a single pebble, or some other obstacle for you to fall on the hard pavement. Your balance point is too high. If you try to hold a broomstick straight up in the air by itself, it will fall over with just a small gust of wind. But if you put it up against a wall, it will take a lot more force to knock it over. Handlebars let you hold on to something. Your comfort and safety will also go up a lot, as will your overall stability.

Better turning and going in the right direction: Try turning a 180 degrees on an electric skateboard. I’ve done it a lot of times, and it usually takes me the WHOLE width of the street to finish. It’s sometimes easier to just pick up the board, turn around, and go the other way. Compared to electric skateboards, e-boards don’t have the best turning circle. Obviously, it will depend on the board’s trucks, wheels, and flex, but nothing beats the way a two-wheeled device like a scooter turns.

Think about the difference between how a car and a motorcycle turn (the motorcycle will run rounds around any car).

With an e-scooter, you can make sharper turns at a faster speed without losing your stability or performance as a whole. No electric skateboard can make that claim. E-scooters are very quick and easy to turn, just like bicycles, which also have two wheels. This makes them easier to control and give you a better sense of where you are going.

It might be hard to stand on any skateboard for the first time. But once you get the hang of it, you can enjoy the benefits and new experiences it brings.

Range Differences

Electric skateboards and electric scooters will have different ranges depending on the brand and model.

Both choices are great and can meet a wide range of needs.

But there’s no doubt that high-range electric scooters are much easier and more common to find than high-range e-boards.

Let me explain.

An electric scooter is a bigger piece of gear that can hold a bigger battery. Simply put, the range is longer when the battery is bigger.

I’ve found that the average range of an electric skateboard is about 11–12 miles, while an electric scooter’s range is often 17–18 miles.

Keep in mind that these are just averages, and it’s easy to find models with more range (and lower prices) that fit your needs.

Take the Evolve Carbon GTR (e-board), which has an incredible range of 31 miles!

On the other end is an e-scooter with a range of 62 miles, like the Inokim OXO. Holy moly!

No matter what, electric scooters are better, so if you want more power, the two-wheeled model is the winner.

How Fast Is It?

Who wins in terms of speed might be the most important thing. Who wouldn’t want the fastest device available?

So, after a lot of research, it’s safe to say that the average electric skateboard will be a little bit faster than your average electric skateboard.

Most electric skateboards can go no faster than 25 miles per hour. While most electric scooters can go no faster than 19 to 21 miles per hour.

So why do e-boards move a bit faster?

I’d say that it leans toward that group. Scooters are usually used by people who need to get to work and by older people who don’t find it as fun to race around the block. Skateboards are made for young people who think that danger and risky tricks are nothing to worry about. So, the average e-board will have a little more kick because of this.

But if you really want to spend your money, you should know that the fastest electric scooters can easily reach speeds of 40 to 60 mph! Even though it’s dangerous, it might be possible to reach top speed because the bike is stable and there are handlebars (something not available on skateboards).


Since both e-boards and e-scooters come in many different shapes and sizes, prices can vary a lot.

Some versions of each device will also suit different people in different ways. There are differences in speed, range, comfort, versatility, weight, etc., which all have a big effect on the price.

If you don’t want to buy a high-end brand or model, you’ll have to spend at least $400-$500 on a good electric skateboard.

Again, if you don’t count the most expensive ones, you’ll have to pay between $300 and $600 for a good electric scooter.

Both are about the same price, but an electric scooter is better if you are really short on cash.

There are also many more models of e-scooters to choose from, so it’s better to find one that fits your budget and your needs.

Which one is simpler to learn?

If you have ever ridden a scooter before, you know that there isn’t much of a learning curve. Get on the frame, push off with your feet, and use the handlebars to steer. Very easy, and you’ll figure it out after a few tries.

On the other hand, skateboarding can take a lot of practice, especially if you aren’t the most athletic or coordinated person. It will take a few days or even weeks to build muscle memory and learn how to balance yourself properly. If you’ve never been on a skateboard before and want a simple and comfortable ride, your best bet is to choose an electric skateboard.


I think that being able to carry and store your e-board or e-scooter is one of the best features!

Taking your device for a ride is fun, but what if you have to carry it and find a place to put it?

I’ve always liked electric skateboards that have handles a lot. Since a skateboard weighs about 18 pounds on average, having a handle makes a big difference. Check out the One Wheel brand. You can buy a maghandle that makes it easy to carry your board when you’re not using it. Some brands, like Meepo and WowGo, build handles into the decks of their boards, which makes them even easier to carry.

It’s a little harder to ride an electric scooter. About 25 pounds is the average weight of an e-scooter, but there are still a few choices on the market.

One thing is that a lot of electric scooters have a very unique feature: they can fold up. When you fold your scooter, it’s easier to store and easier to move (bring on train, subway, bus, etc). Here are some brands of e-scooters that fold up:
